On completion of this assignment the student should be able to:
Identify the main work health, safety and welfare legislation in the construction sector.
Identify the main requirements of an effective health and safety policy, and design suitable organizational arrangements necessary for its implementation.
1.1.2 Assignment brief
The aim of this assignment is to develop your knowledge and understanding of the processes and activities involved in preparing a work health and safety plan in accordance with the relevant WHS legislation.
This assignment relates to drawings RQ1J0170153, RQ1L01J1, RQPL20151, and S0005, available in the Drawings section of Blackboard.
You are a medium sized developer undertaking the renovation of the block of three houses detailed in the drawings.
The properties were built in the 1990’s and have been unoccupied for some time. As a result they are in need of total refurbishment on the inside.
The scope of the work is to:
Completely remove and replace external doors, door frames, and window frames;
completely remove and replace all internal “non-load bearing partitions”, staircases, floors, doors, door linings, architrave, skirting, ceilings, kitchens and bathrooms;
completely rewire and re-plumb each property;
completely redecorate (ready for re-sale) each property;.
Note: roof timbers, fascia, eaves, ceiling and floor joists, do not need replacing
