Assignment Overview
Assignment
During the first three weeks of the semester,
each student should identify a general topic of interest to you that is relevant to this course. Please see the instructor if you are having difficulty narrowing down your topic.
Your paper outline will include a brief introduction stating why this is an important and relevant issue to professionals working in the forensic field. The outline should include: a title, a description of the topic or question to be investigated; the main theoretical issues raised by the research topic or question; a preliminary thesis statement; a very short literature review; an identification of types of evidence to be used in investigating the topic; and a preliminary bibliography. (Maximum length of the proposal, not including the bibliography between 725-750 words).
Evaluation – 20% of total grade
Assignments will be evaluated in terms of content and style. Specifically, grading is based on your demonstrated ability (a) to use appropriate course and research materials, (b) to think critically, (c) to write in a professional manner (i.e., coherent, concise, comprehensive, correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence construction, paragraph construction and referencing).
Formatting and Style: Written Assignments:
Assignments are to be typed using Times New Roman, 12 point, double-spaced with one-inch margins, following the APA referencing format (see the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th edition – apastyle.apa.org). Each assignment must include a works cited list that includes all sources actually referenced in the assignment.

- Choose a topic of interest within the field of forensic practice, corrections, crime and case management. Pick something you feel passionate about. Although primary focus of your paper should be presenting your research paper outline to me.
