Use the following format (and headings) to guide your writing. 1. Background – Briefly describe your area of research interest and provide introductory information about it. What is the problem? Describe a theoretical framework that your proposed study builds upon ( you dont need to describe the framework but must support it with references). 2. Purpose and Objectives – Develop a research question or hypotheses that can be addressed by a quantitative research method. 3. Methods – Refer to a research paradigm (e.g., post-positivism) and the methodology (e.g., quantitative) that guides your inquiry; and briefly describe the following elements: a. Research design – Describe (briefly) the research design (e.g., quasi-experimental) you are choosing to answer your research question (i.e., purpose). b. Sampling and Sample – Describe your target and accessible population, and sampling technique (e.g., purposive), sample size, and recruitment of participants for your study. c. Variables – Describe dependent and independent variables that you are interested in and are included in your purpose (i.e., research question). Both conceptual and operational definitions of your variables must be included. d. Measurement instruments – Provide information about the tools/instruments you will use to measure your variables. Describe the rigour of your study as well as reliability and validity of each instrument used according to the literature. e. Data collection – Briefly describe your data collection process. a. Ethics approval – Describe the process for ethics approval to your proposed study. Can you identify 1-2 areas that may be ethically problematic (optional)? f. Data analysis – Describe the most appropriate statistical technique(s) to analyze your data. Justify your choice by referring to the assumptions of the statistical test that should be met. 4. References – Cite any relevant references according to the APA format (additional pages)
