Introduction
A variable is something that can be changed or altered such as values or other characteristics features. Variables are generally applied in term of psychological perspectives in order to determine that if changes to one thing affect the change in another. According to the situation, the variables change as per the demand of the circumstances.
There are several types of variables, but this paper would present four types of variables and they are mood, leadership, anxiety and performance. This research paper would analyze how these variables were operationalized and through several quantitative research articles, this paper would discuss how the variables were measured.
Quantitative Research on Mood Variable
In term of Psychology, a mood is an affective state, which often tends to fluctuate with time and circumstances. Mood is defined as the value of variables, which occurs most frequently. It is believed that mood alters along with the time, change and situation and hence it is considered as a segment of variables in psychology.
Moods are typically described of either positive or a negative valence. Mood is hence, a semi-persistence mental, physical and emotional state. As per the article mentioned by Ojha, Vitale, Raza, Billingsley and Williams (2018), mood and personality of an individual play a crucial role in determining the emotional state of an individual to a large extend.
This article would describe how mood and personality is necessary to achieve a desirable level of emotional intelligence through certain models. One of the most important models in this regard, is the Five-factor model, which undergo certain dimension in order to analyze the personality as well as the mood of the individual.
First is openness, which includes the characteristics traits such as eagerness to learn anything or try something risky. Second is conscientiousness, which makes a person organized, systematic and reliable. Third is extraversion, which makes a person more outgoing and talkative and hence has the tendency to experience positive emotionality and mood swings.
The fourth one is agreeableness, which makes a person friendlier, compassionate, sympathetic, kindhearted and many more. Fifth is neuroticism, through which the person experiences negative emotion and negative mood swings, which often lead to depressive and distressed lifestyles. Apart from this five-factor model, mood variables can be assessed and operationalized through several quantitative tools, which includes single-item rating, composite factor scales and depression assessments.
Mood assessments may be administered retrospectively. Mood variables is hence, defined as frequent fluctuation of mood from high to low and vice versa within short span of time. Mood is affected by the underlying feeling of the human bring. As mentioned in Onyara (2018), music, mood, personality, performance and work behavior are all interrelated with each other and had a strong relationship with each other.
It is believed as well as researched that music enhances the quality of mood and give a positive feeling and meaning towards life. The main purpose of this analysis and variation is to assess the effect of music on mood and...
