Demographic Transition Model
Demographic Transition Model refers to a model of populace change from low static condition to high static condition, resulting from a preparatory fall in the rate of death from 4500/1000 per annum (a high level) to approximate 9/1000 per annum (a low level). Every phase of the Transition model depicts a downfall in Birth Rate. The model was developed in 1929 by Warren Thompson who was a demographer and an American. He observed and analyzed carefully the pattern of transition in CDR and CBR in similar populace growth again and again in countries as their economy developed.
Four Phases of Demographic Transition
The four phases identified were:
1. Stage one (Low Growth):  Crude Death Rate is high because of inadequate availability of food, unhygienic conditions and shortage of healthcare facilities.
