Write a four to six (4–6) page (1000–1200 word) paper that presents a reasoned, convincing argument for a position on a selected topic. Your paper should cover the following:

  1. Follow the five steps of persuasion: establishing credibility, acknowledging the audience’s position, constructing a rationale, transplanting root elements, and asking for a response.

  2. Clearly define your position and supporting evidence, including the results of your survey.

  3. Include all the necessary “evidence” for the reader to reach the expected conclusion in each argument in the paper (whether the overriding argument or one contained in an individual paragraph)

  4. Ensure that each argument in the paper (whether the overriding argument or one contained in an individual paragraph) is valid and free from both formal and informal fallacies.

  5. Include at least four (4) references (sources). At least one (1) of your sources must be obtained from the collection of databases accessible from the Learning Resources Center Web page.

The paper should follow guidelines for clear and effectively organized writing:

  • The paper is well-organized, and every explanation is both complete and easy to understand.

  • Include an introductory paragraph and concluding paragraph for the paper.

  • Main ideas should be addressed in body paragraphs with a topic sentence and supporting sentences.

  • Adhere to standard rules of English grammar, punctuation, and mechanics.

  • The paper should be checked for spelling and grammatical errors.

The format of the paper is to be as follows:

  • Typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman font (size 12), one-inch margins on all sides, APA format.

  • In addition to the four to six (4–6) pages assigned, a title page with the title of the assignment, your name, the instructor’s name, the course title, and the date is to be included, as well as a Reference Page.

  • Sources documented using APA style for in-text citations and listed on the References Page using APA style format.

Technology has provided significant comforts to human beings and with its advancement
the face of the human society has changed. Computer is one such technology which
revolutionized the human way of
living. Along with the technology of Internet the computer has
emerged as one of the greatest achievements of mankind in the sphere of technological progress.
But as every invention is related to both positive and negative aspects, the domination of
computer over the human society is also infused with both good and bad consequences. If on one
hand one argues that computer has made the human life easier and smoother, on the other hand
one can counter this argument by stating that computer, though has helped in enhancing the way
of life of human beings, has actually enslaved mankind and due to their extreme dependency on
computers humans have gradually turned into slaves of their new master, the computer. People
are factually becoming too much dependent on computers. But before coming into such
conclusion it is viable to learn about both the side of the argument as this can surely increase the
strength of the argument which I am going to favor.
The issue that whether or not people are becoming too dependent on computers is a
hugely debated one and the contenders who are willing to state that people are gradually
becoming too much dependent on computers provide ample proofs to support their claim.
Primarily they argue that with the growth in the degree of use of computers students and
educators have become much more inclined towards collecting information from the Internet
through their computers and have gradually abandoned the process of reading textbooks. And
this is harmful. Textbooks are not only good sources of information but are also the outcome of
well research. But it is due to the overt dependency on gathering easy information, usually
provided by the computer and the Internet, which has turned students and educators away from

the correct source of knowledge. And from this angle, if seen, people have really become too
much dependent on computers. Moreover, the fact that people have become too much dependent
on computers also can be proved by citing the ever increasing number of members of social
networking sites. The supporters of the view that people are becoming too much dependent on
computers do opine that the lack of intimate relationship between human beings in this modern
day society is an outcome of their involvement in the virtual and cyber world of the social
networking sites and as computers are the only primary way (followed by some smart phones) to
access to these social networking sites, the role of computer in enslaving the majority of the
human populace cannot be denied. It is a fact that “Everything seems available via internet,
that's why most people are totally dependent on computers” (Skeene, 2011). Furthermore, as per
the views of the supporter of fact that people are becoming more...
