Assignment #3: Creating A Strategic and/or Operational Plan(Individual Assignment)


In this assignment, the student will create a strategic/operational plan which addresses critical issues based on a strategic planning model and design a plan/format to monitor implementation and progress towards meeting goals on the strategic and/or operational plan. As part of the assignment, the student will discuss how one goes about making changes/revisions to strategic and operational plans. They will also discuss how project management plays a role in this entire process. The student will explore and conduct a comprehensive search for appropriate formats. Justification for the format selected must be discussed on the initial section of the paper. The actual plan section of the paper must be in “chart/table” format. Variations to this requirement must have prior approval from the professor. Total 10-12 pages (minimum of 10 scholarly references) not counting the title and references pages.


Points to consider, when developing your strategic or operational plan, students should plan to ask some questions to help in the development of the plan—draw from your readings. Questions such as, does this issue/idea/program bear significance to the overall vision and mission of the organization? What is the background of the problem or program? Who are the key stakeholders? Is this a key priority for the organization? What are the goals? Expected outcome? Timeline? Etc.



NOTE: Late assignments will not be accepted beyond the posted due date. If a student has an extenuating circumstance that precludes a timely submission, the student is expected to communicate with the professor beforehand to discuss a possible extension. There are no exceptions; a grade of zero will be recorded for the assignment.

Introduction
Healthcare providers play a crucial role in helping people live their lives happily and without any worries. It aids people suffering from diseases, which need special care to overcome them. It may include service
s like physiotherapy, some recreational activities, providing hearing aids and many more. It can be childcare, aged care, disability, mental health care. Hence, the right people are an essential component or the factor of success for any healthcare facility.
1. Operational Plan Background
Since the job role of healthcare professionals require extreme levels of responsibilities and adherence to policies, therefore, as mentioned by McColl-Kennedy et al. (2017), it is necessary to put the right people to the right job and at the right time with the right amount of skills, knowledge and characteristics. The educated people can provide the right services to the people; their documentation and reporting can be maintained appropriately. They quickly help in overcoming the obstacles.
A proper strategic plan should be developed to recruit the people in the healthcare facility. The people selected should be able to complete the tasks efficiently and effectively. Lastly, the recruiting of people is not a joke; they are the one who runs the facility. They should be a good fit for the community and must work towards its betterment. As mentioned by Fix et al. (2018), the facility can have a wonderful building, but if did not have the minds and hearts of the people who work with full motivation and concentration, it is of no use.
The plan includes choosing the people, which can understand the job role and put best efforts to fulfil them. HCA Healthcare is one of the leading facilities founded around 52 years ago. The healthcare provides services such as diagnosis, consultancy, nursing, medical education, physician resource center and many more (HCA Healthcare, 2020). The main problem is to have the right staff to provide the services are moreover the staff is required to look after the policies, amending it according to the needs of people, insurance plans and much more.
Otherwise, it will affect the organization badly and they will not be able to fulfil its goals and no alignment with vision and mission. Their mission is to adopt a patient-centric approach and be active in providing kind services. Therefore, for this, they need to have highly motivated staff, which by applying their skills can provide assistance and keep on sharpening their skills and learning. HCA healthcare wants to be a recognized facility and leaders in providing a unique experience to the patients.
As mentioned by Chong and Lim (2019), the employees should be honest and fair in their working and add value to the facility. To achieve the goals, employees are needed. The goals of the healthcare organization include patient safety, patient wellbeing and overall patient experience, meeting regulatory compliances, providing quality services, minimizing cost as well as delivering significant return on investments for stakeholders. In the present times, the patient is well aware of the healthcare procedures, so the professionals need to have knowledge for correctly answering the patient's queries so that it serves in reducing their fear.
The motive of the organization should not be to harm any patient in any way. A healthcare organization that sacrifices patient safety for earning profits will lose its goodwill and see declining revenues in the coming future. They can also face potentially devastating lawsuits. Besides, the healthcare facilities should have a license to carry out the activities, certified equipment’s and proper disposal of medical waste. The Affordable Care Act or Obama care has put pressure on care providers to examine every aspect of their facility for ways to ensure compliance with governmental mandates (Healthcare Government, 2010).
They need to follow the letter of the law. The ethical code of conduct needs to be followed especially in the area of healthcare data combined with death or life stakes. The problem associated with HCA healthcare was that they were treating uninsured patients and it is against the rule of the USA to treat immigrants without having insurance. They need first to purchase the insurance and they only can have access to healthcare services. Therefore, it created a problem for them for a short period. In order to succeed, the facility needs to undergo proper staffing.
The great vision and mission would be difficult to achieve without great people. The vision, mission and goals become irrelevant when the organization does not have a motivated and competent workforce. The company need to spent time on hiring to have the right family of employees. Employees and good management will help to run the facility efficiently and effectively (Carthey, 2018). Proper agency staffing needs to be done so that the activities of the facility can be performed without any hurdles. The people need to be hired so that they can maintain records of the patients, which may include their family background, insurance or policy details, disease and prescription.
Moreover, the staff is required to provide them with care so that they are able to live their life satisfactorily. There should be professional staff to provide services such as physiotherapists, pharmacist, pathologist, dieticians and podiatrists and care for diseases like tumbling. This type of teams help in diagnosing various diseases prevents deformity and abnormal conditions. They also help in providing services for infections, relief from pain and keep people active and mobile.
