Category
Operating System
System: It is a type of system software kernel which lies between the computer hardware and end user. It is the software used to identify the devices and applications and hence well-designed. E.g. Windows 10, Ubuntu, Mac OS X.
Utility: Operating system software uses applications which is called utilities and assists the users to manage the computer operations. These are deleting data, anti-virus software, formatting, system cleanup, software updates, encryption and decryption and user accounts and security (BBC, 2021).
Application: It helps to control the backing stores and peripherals like scanners and printers, organizes the use of memory between programs, helps to maintain security and allows the users to access, warns with error messages (BBC, 2021).
Device Drivers
System: Device Drivers are software which brings the computer devices and other peripherals in a computer to operating status. The device driver makes it possible to do all intended tasks as directed by the operating system.
Utility: The device driver helps to simplify the programming and acts as a communicator between the operating system and the external hardware devices.
Application: It is used in devices like mouse, soundcard, keyboard, printer, network card etc.
