Crime Prevention:
Crime prevention is a way to reduce and deter the crime and the criminal activities. Crime prevention is a process and a philosophy of self-defense where both the people living in the communities and the police departments take steps to take proactive steps to stop crime before it is committed. That is the reason various crime prevention programs and events to trigger people’s awareness and safety is carried out in the communities for a better wellbeing. If we understand the reason for crime than I believe half our problem is solved as proper reinforcement of first time offenders reduces the possibilities of being serial offenders. This in a way helps to reduce and prevent crime.
Need for crime prevention:
There are many strategies employed for crime prevention which is done not only to prevent crime but also to reduce the risk of increasing victimization in the society. Among various objectives of crime prevention, the primary one is to reduce and deter crime to make a better society. Many criminal justice agencies have developed strategies through public policy in order to prevent crime. IN many countries the government is also taking steps to set up correctional homes for proper counselling and rehabilitation of the offenders and educate them in a positive way to refrain from such activities and also help them to become responsible citizens again.
