 Assignment 1—Discussion paper Weighting: 40% Length: 2000 words Choose one of the following areas to write a discussion paper: 1. Explore the therapeutic boundaries needed when counselling within a mental health service with particular reference to ‘transference’ and ‘counter transference’. 2. Discuss the challenges of counselling survivors of abuse and what implications it has for mental health practice. You can choose to focus on one of the following areas: * sexual * physical * psychological * domestic. 3. Examine the ending of therapeutic relationships within mental health practice when working with both groups and individuals. Explore how the counsellor can terminate the relationship effectively. 4. Discuss the efficacy base of group work with people experiencing mental illness and explore the challenges and possibilities it has in both inpatient and community mental health practice. Ensure all arguments and opinions are supported by relevant literature. Referencing and in-text referencing is required using the Harvard referencing format as described in the School of Nursing & Midwifery referencing guide. On the assignment list there are four topics to choose from. For instance the first one which is the transference and counter transference topic or the second topic you can choose to focus on one of the four areas they have listed (sexual, physical, psychological or domestic) 
Picking one would probably be easier than trying to cover all four because there is a lot of information.  Also don't forget to look at the SAM . The SAM says we will get marks if we: -debate the issues of ethical, racial, cultural, religious and gender sensitivity in counseling or group work, and -investigate potential challenges of individual and group work counseling when working in mental health nursing. 
 So, pick the one form of abuse as indicated below and incorporate the above two components during your discussion.
