Assignment #1: Report on the Religious Life of Planet Earth (Due Week 4) Assume you are from another planet and have been sent to Earth to determine if it is a religious planet or not (something very important to your people). Your superiors are expecting a report back from you. Write a 2-3 page (approximately 500-750 words) “report” that addresses the following: Discuss the criteria you will employ to determine if people on Earth are religious – in other words, what does religion look like? Describe three examples of behaviors or beliefs you observe that meet the criteria you established above. Be sure to consider a range of world religions. Based on your observations, explain what the function of religion appears to be on Earth. If you find that religion can be better discussed in terms of something other than its function, explain how else religion could be understood. This paper should adhere to APA Style standards, including the following: Typed, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, Times New Roman 12 pt. font. In-text citations and a References page following APA Style, even if the only source that you are using is the textbook. Any other sources must be documented using in-text citations and included on the References page. Any direct quotes *must* be in quotation marks and should total no more than 15 percent of paper’s total word length.
