Part 1: Background Information
The agency selected for analysis in the assignment is the Administration of Children and
Families. The Administration of Children and
Families is one of the divisions of US Department
of Health and Human Services. This Administration is headed by the Assistant Secretary for
Children and Families. The department provides national leadership as well as creates
opportunities for the US families towards leading economically as well as socially productive
lives. The Human Resource department of the agency takes care of various human resource
requirements such as recruiting, inducting, providing training and development to new recruits,
performance evaluations and listening to the grievances of employees.
Part 2: Functions of the Agency
The role of the Human Resource Management has been very crucial in the
Administration of Children and Families as it intends towards motivating people as well as
designs various policies in accordance to the needs and wants of the human assets of the
organization. One other component of human resource system of the agency is to decide on the
compensation level of various level employees in the agency. This includes deciding upon the
salary bands of the new recruits and deciding on the new salary bands for management level
employees. Since the agency works closely under the US Department of Health and Human
Services which is a government organization, it Human resource department also have to
implement its strategies based on the government regulations.
