Address the following in a three-page paper:

Consider an ethical dilemma you or someone you know faced recently and analyze the possible resolutions considering the following:

  • How did you decide how to resolve the ethical dilemma? Did you focus on the possible consequences of various choices? Did you consider how your actions would affect other people in your life, community, or in the world? Did you apply a moral rule that you believe has universal authority? Alternatively, did you consider what a person you admire would do?

  • Which ethical theory that we’ve studied this week most resembles the approach you took in resolving your ethical dilemma? For example, if you thought about consequences, how did your approach compare to the utilitarian principles we’ve studied this week?

Ethical Dilemma
In the course of life each and every human being, at least once in life, has to face an
ethical dilemma. Ethical dilemma denotes “situations in which there are two choices to be made,
neither of which resolves the situation in an ethically acce
ptable fashion. In such cases, societal
and personal ethical guidelines can provide no satisfactory outcome for the chooser” (“Ethical
Dilemma Examples”, n.d.). So, it is observable that ethical dilemmas often entrap an individual
within the realm of anxiety, stress, difficulty and indecisiveness. In my life too, I have been faced
with different situations where my morality and my duty had been in contradiction. But as it is
never good to succumb to any form of ethical dilemma, I have always tried to resolve such issues
by applying my knowledge and with my sense of ethics. As a matter of fact, my primary
endeavor in this paper is to reveal before the readers one of such dilemmatic situations, facing
which I not only plunged into a pool of obscurities but did also survive the difficulty and did
acquire great deal of experience which is still now helping me a lot in tough decision making
situations.
I have always enjoyed being a part of a multicultural society as my home country is a
multinational country in which each and every culture has the chance to mingle with one another
without losing their originality and legacy. But I must confess that it is due to this multinational

dilemma which I am going to discuss about in this paper was faced by me in relation to the
problem of racial discrimination which is often experienced by myriads of individuals in my
homeland. As stated earlier, I always love to belong to a multiracial culture and it is due to this
affinity I have got friends from different racial and religious background. Back in my high school
days I had some close friends who were adherents to Islam and it was during those days that a

group of Islamic extremists was carrying on a kind of rampage across the globe killing innocent
people through the heinous act of terrorism. It should be mentioned that in my country the anti-
Muslim feeling was gradually creeping up in the minds of the non-Muslim populace and on
several occasion I did also witness anti-terrorist movements in the country which were targeted
specifically towards the Muslim population. But I must also admit that, in that particular period,
the law enforcement agencies of my country proved their worth in entrapping and eventually
putting behind the bars a large number of Muslim citizens of my country who had enough link
