One way of doing this is to read the text from a number of different perspectives – for example from the perspective of a young person, a parent, a teacher) and to look at the text in relation to the other readings that you have examined in the course so far.When you evaluate the document this means making a judgement – about the strengths and weaknesses of the text in relation to the issues raised by Wyn (2009).
Evaluating requires an understanding of not just the content of the text, but also an understanding of a text’s purpose, the intended audience and why it is structured the way it is.
