How would you like to be different?
The procedure of emptying oneself and the procedure of obliterating oneself have nothing in common. Not only they differ from one another but also, they are considered a diametrically opposite. According to Roads (2019), emptying oneself suggests eradicating all that is imposed in personality. Personality is a given social norm, whereas, individuality brings the sense of “I”. as per the above asked question, it could be said that human personality can be assumed as a combination of several layers in which manner is the outmost layer and individuality is at the core. In order to be different from others, an individual need to change the manners at first. While processing with this agenda, an individual need to give stress on the formalized patterns of appearance, actions and responses demanded of each of us by the society we belong. This type of change is often associated with outward manners people exhibit rather than how people feel inside. Changing manner could help an individual to widen their knowledge to understand others’ perspective.
The next stage of change or being different is changing behaviours that is represented by an organized way of thinking or acting, which in turn express an individual believes, values in life, opinions in matters. Changing behaviours could be aided by changing the values in life. To be more precise, it could be said that changing values will bring more sharp understanding of the difference between professional value and personal values that an individual need to balance in the life. On the other hand, another layer of change is bringing change in the characteristic traits. It has been examined by Turner et al. (2006), character is inherited from the environment, society and family of a person and can not be altered by conscious efforts. Although, it could be said that widening the capacity of achieving something or understanding something will be helpful in strengthening one’s character in later personal and professional life.
