Defining Multiliteracies
    Multiliteracies in simple words can be defined as an approach to pedagogy and literacy theories. This approach further focuses on two key aspects of literacy namely multimodal form of linguistic expressions and representation and linguistic diversity. With the advent of globalisation, multiliteracies became essential to respond to a variety of communication modes, which emerged in the globalised world. These modes of communication include multimedia, digital media, internet and other prominent communication technologies (Kulju et al., 2018). Furthermore, as the world became smaller with increasing communication, linguistic and cultural diversity increased considerably. Multiliteracies as a term can also be used to explain the way our communication methods have changed with the advent of technology and multimedia.

Pedagogies of Multiliteracies
    Pedagogies of multiliteracy can be described as an approach, which aims at improving classroom teaching by making it more inclusive linguistic, communicative, technological and cultural diversity existing in the today’s globalised environment. The pedagogies of multiliteracies focus at preparing the students for a better and brighter future in the globalised world (Kiss & Mizusawa, 2018). The popular types of pedagogies of multiliteracies can be described as:
Overt Instruction
    Overt instructions include teaching metalanguages directly. This helps the learners to understand the expressive forms of grammar by understanding their components. Overt instructions can further be described through the original view and updated view. According to the original view, teachers supports students by making the students focus on essential features of their experience. With this the learners are provided with an opportunity to gain explicit information by focusing, on what the learners already know and have chevied in the past (Sang, 2017). This includes ample communication between the teachers and students and requires them to put in a collaborative effort to perform complex tasks, which could not have been performed individually.
