Learning experience plan 1
Dates: 04/12/2024
Time/s: 11:00 am until 1:30 pm.
Child’s pseudonym and age: Willow 4.3
Experience/activity: Imaginative learnings with artistic images, puzzles, drawing boards, drawing papers, drawing pencils & drawing pens, playing cards and with some blocks. Up to 4 children participating in various activities.
Where: Inside a playroom in the house where all these materials are available with ample space for all children to play and showcase their creative excellence.
Resources: Use of cards and wrappings to paste on a board. Use of drawing boards, drawing papers, and colour pencils to draw any imaginative thing or painting. Tables and chairs are given. The children are let alone free to do their task of creating anything imaginative on their drawing paper. Playing cards were also given to test their memory and imaginative power.
Rationale: Willow was playing in collaboration with Eliza and Charlie with cards where Willow had collected maximum number of cards (Observation 1). Similarly, in Observation 3, it can be seen that Willow carefully draw her painting and she had drawn an arm which she had forgotten earlier. Collaborative or group play is also a method of learning that reflects the way Willow Eliza, and Charlie had collaborated with each other and a group learning is reflected. Willow had also shown her learning in the details she draw of people, grass, sky, sun, and clouds (Observation 6). It is called visual learning where Willow had shown her ability to grasp on things and put them on paper in the mode of drawing.
Objectives/goals: it is an opportunity for all the children, especially Willow to resolve the situation through observations. Observation will help her to increase her memory strength and that will also bring in creativity out of her activities from a very early age.
Link to EYLF (AGDE, 2022) or VEYLDF (DET & VCAA, 2016): Children from at a very early age gets connected with the community and try to observe their way of living. The understanding of interdependence also grows up rapidly that will help in addressing more complex challenges alone. Nevertheless, the learnings can have impact on not only working alone to resolve challenges, rather engaging into participative mode with others to handle and resolve challenges (WHO, 2023).
What will the child do? The environment that is created in the playroom with drawing equipment and playing cards will help them to explore more possibilities of its uses through creativity. Nevertheless, the sensory qualities of the materials will be further explored to draw more imaginative, yet practical drawings and engage in more rigorous memory testing game through the use of cards.
What will you do? The area will be properly setup in an inviting manner and also the aesthetic of the place is set in a pleasing manner. The adult person will also join later on after letting the children to work with their drawing and memory cards of their own. The children will be encouraged to work in group and on their own to test their capabilities for both individual problem solving capabilities and handling and resolving problem in a group.
