Please pay attention to notes below: • All reports are to be submitted to Turnitin at week 14 • You will be expected to have consulted books, at least 15 relevant recent academic journal articles, conference proceedings, theses, dissertations, market reports and so on to prepare the report from quality sources listed in scholarly databases • Use proper in-text citations and referencing • Do not plagiarize • For style you need to use follow carefully the style guide document on the Moodle. Readings for the assessment (instructions where they can be found e.g. MyAthens database, Moodle etc.) • Lecture notes (Moodle) • Recommended textbooks in the unit outline • Prescribed articles available on MyAthens database Grading Criteria / Rubric The following criteria will be used to assess this assignment: • Structure of the essay, clear headings and sub headings. • Clarity, consistency and conceptual accuracy of arguments in the literature review and problem statement. • Clear and easy to understand explanations for data collection and analysis. ASSESSMENT TEMPLATE___________________________________________________ Page 3 of 3 • Accurate and well-argued justifications for the choice of sampling methods and analytical approach in line with research problem and questions. • Logical flow for the literature review. • Complete and accurate in-text citation and referencing. Peer Review Evaluation (group work – optional) N/A ICMS COVER PAGE TITLE PAGE here you put title of your research student name & ID supervisor name TABLE OF CONTENT Background of The Research Problem Statement Research Objective Research Questions Literature Review Use specific headings and sub headings here based on your topic Research Design Research philosophy Research choices, approach and strategy Type of the research Here you explain if your research is qualitative of quantitative Data Population, Here you explain and describe population of your research, Sample and sampling technique Here you explain your sample and sampling technique Data collection tool Here you explain how you collected data. If you use survey questionnaire you need to design how you design questions in the survey questionnaire based on the literature. If you used interview protocol, then you need to explain how you design interview protocol questions. Analytic approach Here you explain your analytic approach. If your research is quantitative, you may use survey or experiment and apply correlation, regression, t-test, ANOVA or other statistical tools like descriptive and inferential techniques. If your research is qualitative then you need to explain your method if it is case study or grounded theory, then you discuss type of case and coding process and codebook. Ethical considerations Briefly explain what measures you take to ensure ethical collection of data. This may include, but not limited to, consent of informants, pilot testing and expert checking questionaries and protocol, ensuring privacy, anonymity, and security of data, etc. Strength and Weaknesses of The Research Explain what, in your opinion, the key strengths uniqueness and limitations or weaknesses of your research are and what do you suggest other researchers do to improve similar research should they wish to repeat it in other contexts. Validity and Reliability How do you ensure external, internal validity, construct validity of your research? Use points discussed in the lecturers and consult how other researchers done it in published research articles. Conclusion References Appendix Criterion Have I checked my research against……? Yes No Not sure How? Why? Explain /clarify 1. Incorrect, ambiguous and vague objective 2. Incorrect research questions 3. Including bias, opinions and unchecked info in literature review 4. Incorrect hypothesis development 5. Incomplete literature review (not recent, omitting key references) 6. Lack of transparency in data collection and analysis 7. Incorrect philosophical and reasoning approaches 8. Incorrect research strategy 9. Incorrect research time horizon 10. Incorrect definition of population 11. Incorrect sampling technique 12. Inadequate sample size 13. Inadequate data (for quantitative enough completed surveys, for qualitative enough interviews backed by observations and other sources ) 14. Incorrect data collection method (survey, archival, interview) 15. Incorrect data collection tool (design of survey, interview protocol) 16. Incorrect choice of data analytic approach 17. Incorrect calculations and inference building
