Purpose:
You are to analyse yourself comparing your own cultural background with that of others, raise awareness of importance of self-identity, attitude, personality and behaviour. Reflecting on your self-identity and understanding of the tools used in this unit (Johari Window, MBTI, and DISC) you are to write a reflective essay on how these tools and exercises have helped you to improve your own identity, attitudes, personality traits and behaviours in terms of conflict management and communication in an organisational setting.



Detail:
Primary dimensions of diversity (e.g. gender, race, ethnicity) are essentially unchangeable. People generally have more control over secondary dimensions of diversity (e.g. education, political affiliation, work experiences), than over primary dimensions of diversity. Thus, the secondary dimensions of diversity are changeable personal characteristics that are acquired and could be modified throughout life. However, the process of modification of secondary dimensions depends on cultural context, self-identity, attitude, behaviour and personality traits. Self-analysis and self-reflection may help an individual to enhance the modification process for better conflict management and communication in organisational setting. Thus, considering all these features, you are to write a reflective essay.



To complete the task, you need to go through the following steps.



Identify, analyse, evaluate and provide evidence of:


1. What have you learnt from self-analysis by comparing your own culture/cultural background with that of others? What is the influence of group affiliation on your self-identity, behaviour and attitude?


2. What have you learnt about your arena, blind spot, personality type, behavioural patter, and attitude by understanding the tools e.g. Johari Window, DISC and MBTI?


3. What surprised you most about your-self and of others?


4. What are the strengths and weaknesses of your own personality, attitude and behavioural pattern in communication with others in an organisational setting?


5. How can you improve yourself to manage diversity and conflict in an organisational setting?


6. You need to provide at least two solid examples of your recent work experience in which you failed to manage a conflict earlier. Explain- a) what was the situation, b) why have you failed, c) what you would do now on that context; and d) how you will manage conflict in an organisational setting in future reflecting your learning and understanding of self-analysis and implications of the tools (e.g. Johari Window, DISC, MBTI).


7. You should provide evidence of research from academic articles minimum of five and not older than five (5) years excluding legislations.

REFLECTION
The aspect of cultural background is one of the areas, which according to me plays a significant role in the context of delivering and working in an environment. I have personally seen that there are can be different forms of the problem, which can be seen in a person if the fact

In my situation in the orientation of working, I have faced different problem due to the factor that I come from a different background and the organisation, which I indulgence into, was different. The factor of the language barrier is one of the most important factors which can be stated here and which plays a very important role in the sector. People in recent times are more inclined to the factor of cultural background due to the mentality in which they prevail which makes the life of the cultural different people more problematic. People in recent times want to get more in order to work less; this is the common mentality of the people I am engaged in. Cultural background can directly lead to different forms of the problem, which can make the factor of sustainability very much an issue or problem. In my life, the factor of communication is one of the factors, which is playing an important role due to the factor that if proper communication is not engaged in the section of working it can directly affect the factor of working or being indulged in the sector of working. Attitude is another trait of the people, which according to me is very much important due to the factor that if there is a problem linked to the factor of attitude it can directly affecting the manner of indulging in the different activity and impacts the sector of working. The management criteria of the different activity can be considered very much important due to the factor that and person can directly indulge in a different section of working in a life in which proper attitude would be one of the plus points which can always lead to the factor of success in the working area according to me. Behaviour can be linked to the factor of attitude and in this area, I can say that if someone has a proper behaviour engaged in the working it could be stated that there would be no problem in the context of engagement factor in the sector of working of the different task. According to me, people should be implementing proper planning in their working so that if there are any forms of negative traits prevailing in life it can be directly be mitigated. This area can be considered very much important and this sector would be playing a more important role if the proper alignment of the working would be engaged in the sector of engagement factor of an individual.
