Breakdown of marks Task Weighting Group presentation 10.0% Presentation materials 5.0% Individual Reflection 5.0% Table 2. Breakdown of marks Topics Choose one topic, either of your own interest[footnoteRef:1], or it could be from the following list: [1: If you choose your own topic, you must have it agreed by your teaching staff.] 1) Cyber Security 2) Wearable IT 3) Natural Language Processing 4) Artificial Intelligence 5) Data Mining 6) Software Engineering 7) Virtual or Augmented Reality 8) Games Development The intention is to provide the audience of the presentation with an introduction to the chosen topic, through a series of synthetic slides and accompanying discussion. The slides will only contain a few bullet-points and images, and will be a summary of what is being spoken, and so the voice-over by the presenter will convey the larger information. Group Presentation You will be placed into groups of size 3-5 – how this occurs will be decided by your campus lecturer - it could be random, or you may be invited to form your own groups. Groups will be provided with the opportunity to work on this assignment within the normal tutorial and laboratory time. It is expected that students will also have to work outside of class in order to complete the tasks. Each student is required to contribute four or five minutes to the overall presentation to the class on the chosen topic of their group. Marks will be awarded for clarity of voice, presentation during the talk, use of slides, engaging ideas and timing of the presentation. *Each member of the group needs to upload the presentation materials to Moodle. The presentation will consist of the following: · Introduction slide · Conclusion slide · Additionally at least one slide per member. Slides will contain: · Good quality image(s), with appropriate resuse permissions · A few short bullet-points (e.g. 4 or 5) Kaltura video The final product can be in Kaltura[footnoteRef:2] video format. Each person will do a voice-over for their slides, and all of these movie files will be combined into a single movie. Try and ensure that transitions/hand-overs between speakers is as smooth and seamless as possible. We will provide information on Kaltura in later classes. [2: https://corp.kaltura.com/video_resource/moodle-lms-walkthrough/] Collaboration Groups will be expected to decide early on how they intend to collaborate and share ideas and content. This could be as simple as using mobile phones and email to communicate, and Dropbox to share files. There are many other alternatives, for instance using Trello (highly recommended) to keep on target with tasks. Team leader and Group structure You are advised to early on decide on a leader for your group, and any other management structure or responsibilities. Individual Reflection Each student should also submit an individual reflection (Word document) for assessment via Moodle detailing: · Their contribution to the presentation · A discussion on the group performance and dynamic with reference to group theories discussed in class. · A discussion of the groupware used to facilitate the presentation Marking Rubric for Presentation Topic 0 No focus on topic 1 Often loses focus and/or too short or too long 2 Some focus on topic and/or incorrect length 3 Sometimes loses focus, good length 4 Keeps focus on topic for most of presentation, good length 5 Good focus throughout presentation with good length Voice and pace 0 Volume inappropriate for room, lacks clarity and expression 1 Lacking in expression and clarity, no expression 2 Mostly clear, suitable tone, but lacking in expression 3 Mostly clear, suitable tone and some expression 4 Sometimes not clear, variability in tone and expression 5 Very clear, good tone and expression.
