Assessment item 3 Clinical E-Portfolio Value: 60% Due date: 23-Sep-2017 Return date: 18-Oct-2017 Submission method options Alternative submission method Task Clinical Portfolio This task requires you to compose an E-Portfolio detailing your achievement of the AEP Scope of Practice as outlined by Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). The Scope of Practice (SoP) is downloadable from ESSA or under resources on EHR510 Interact site. In order to do this, students will need to collect a variety of evidence-based artefacts while on placement to exhibit their abilities, personal qualities and skills as Exercise Physiologists to include within the clinical E-Portfolio. The Clinical Portfolio needs to include: 1. Minimum of 7 evidence-based artefacts that specifically link to the first 7 points of the AEP Scope of Practice (one artefact per point of the scope); 2. An outline of the level of health care (point 2.8 on the SoP) that your placement/s occurred. Your E-Portfolio will be composed using the Charles Sturt University software PebblePad +, for each item of the ESSA Scope of Practice you will need to create a new folio page and upload your artefact. In no more than 500 words for each artefact, you must justify the use of your artefact with reference to the literature. Each folio page should specifically demonstrate HOW you achieved the SoP and justify WHY the artefact is appropriate for the SoP item. Further detail on this task will be provided in Learning Module Four. FEEDBACK Feedback will be in the form of the marking rubric plus an overall comment and returned via EASTS. Rationale By completing the clinical placement, students have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills gained in other subjects and components of their course to the workplace setting. The clinical placement forms an integral part of the student’s exercise physiology program and complements and supplements academic and practical components of the course. Clinical placement will provide opportunities for students to be socialised into the exercise science/physiology professional community by adopting ethical practice, and applying their discipline, practical, interpersonal and reflective knowledge in authentic, real-world professional contexts. These experiences should assist in preparing students for a career as an exercise physiologist upon completion of the course. This clinical portfolio task provides students with the opportunity to evaluate their standard of achievement of the AEP Scope of Practice during their clinical placement, reflect upon their professional growth and achievement of the following learning objectives: be able to further develop their knowledge and practical skills and to apply practically, the skills and knowledge gained to date in the course; be able to locate, comprehend, critically analyse, collate and disseminate the clinical exercise scientific literature; be able to demonstrate the capability of making informed judgements of the claims made in original research articles versus the strength of the evidence provided; be able to demonstrate the ability to assess client needs, design and implement appropriate exercise programs and evaluate client progress; be able to appreciate the effects of organisational behaviour on the delivery of allied health services; be able to critique their own and others professional practice; and be able to reflect on their own professional and personal development.Presentation PebblePad+ is to be used to create and submit your E-Portfolio.
