According to Schermerhorn (2012), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an organisation’s obligation to act in ways that serve both its own interests and the interests of stakeholders, representing society at large. Sustainability is an important social responsibility goal.


Discuss this statement using an organisation to illustrate CSR practices. To do this you should describe, apply and critically evaluate the applicability of relevant theoretical concepts in influencing sustainability practices in your chosen organisation. Consider multiple perspectives: stakeholders will have different and sometimes conflicting interests.

s paper, the Corporate
Social Responsibilities (CSR) of the company are analyzed from the sustainability perspective.
The three pillars of sustainability theory are considered to make an analysis about the
sustainability of PepsiCo.
In this paper, there is a discussion about various management and ethical theories that are
relevant to the company to have a clear understanding of their contribution to the sustainability
of the company. From the analysis, it is clear that PepsiCo is a high-value company that has
more ethics and more concern for all the stakeholders, society, environment and economy as a
whole.
Pepsi CSR Analysis
PepsiCo Australia & New Zealand are more committed to their business and focus on
their financial success by creating a positive impact on the society. The company focuses on
driving the shareholder's interest through their financial performance and their value creation.
PepsiCo focuses on human sustainability, talent sustainability, and environment sustainability.
PepsiCo focuses on talent sustainability as it forms the key to success. Retaining talent of
PepsiCo can be analyzed using Taylor’s scientific management approach that is based on the
concept like standardization, simplification, and plans in achieving the work efficiency (FAO,
n.d.). Taylor’s method indicates the following:
 The employees should be given due recognition for the contribution they make to the
organization.
 There should be no autocratic employer and employee relationship.

It forms the fundamental for the talent sustainability of the PepsiCo. PepsiCo believes that their
people are their greater strength. They target to get good talent, provide training and to retain the
employees. It goes in line with their sustainability goals. People, planet, and products are the area
of focus of PepsiCo these are the main three pillars of the sustainability theory.
Environmental factors are the major factor that is adversely affected due to various
industries. PepsiCo is working to improve the use of water efficiency among the growers and in
their operations. They are focusing on replenishing the water sources and has established
collaboration with various local bodies that aims in providing best and safe drinking water to the
people. They have more concern about the raising pollution in the environment and focuses on
the lower carbon emission and greenhouse gas emission over the entire value chain to improve
the quality of the environment.
