Reflect on Cassie’s experiences and then respond to the following paper prompts: In this assessment you are to discuss the major factors contributing to health outcomes for Indigenous Australian peoples. In your response, include discussion on the following: 1. Current health outcomes including both strengths and areas requiring improvement for Indigenous Australian peoples 2. Examine legislation, policies and practices that have impacted Indigenous Australian identity, cultures and health. 3. Consider how nursing, which is part of the health system, contributes to the identified health outcomes 4. Develop a concept map, relationship diagram, graphic organiser or plan. This will be placed in the appendix of your submission and marks awarded. Templates are found in the NRS212 Interact site within the Resources section. Please note the use of "I" as the first person is not acceptable in academic writing. You are expected to use Cassie's story as supporting evidence for your discussion. Rationale By completing this task you will have the opportunity to explore areas relating to morbidity and mortality and link together the social and political aspects that result in poor health outcomes for Indigenous Australians. This assessment item addresses the following subject learning outcomes: • Discuss Indigenous Australian’s cultures and historical backgrounds and examine legislation, policies and practices that have impacted on Indigenous Australian identity, cultures and health (NMBA 1.3, 1.4, 6.5) • Articulate the relationship between historical, cultural, legislative, policy and practice factors that affect the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians and their implications for nursing, health care provision and health systems responsiveness (NMBA 1.3, 1.4, 6.5)
