Introduction
Automated Facial Recognition Authentication system helps to enhance identification and authentication to access services. A state government decides to implement AFRA for its various state-level services. There are benefits, problems, issues, and ethical implications and privacy to be considered before focusing on AFRA system. The roll-out of AFRA is to be seen in several cities to indicate and consider the benefits and issues while implementing the AFRA system. The report considers the major implications of the AFRA system, issues, and benefits that are likely faced by the government institute. The effects of AFRA on security and privacy are largely considered and focused.
Benefits and problems from the use of AFRA for identification
Automated facial recognition authentication system indicates face recognition which has become an active area of research as it is really helpful to engage with biometric security systems. The recent advances tend to indicate the state of the art which is fairly beyond the direct image of comparison from other systems (Acquisti, Gross & Stutzman, 2014). Face recognition is the computer application in which the system identifies the digital image and confirms the sequence of input for the authorities. An image sequence is provided in terms of FRS and this helps to apply the method of FRS in which the first step is to provide a face image that is stored in the database adequately to recognize the face image on the next go. AFRA largely benefits people in terms of identification of activities to be performed. This is a protected form of system that enhances the individual identity and confirms the identification while creating a safe environment.
Benefits
AFRA is an approach that enhances certain things to focus towards and create an environment that is around the core principles. AFR technology tends to enhance and benefit the industry in terms of regulating the system and considering immense technology. ARFA considers potential benefits in terms of technology change and several aspects that benefit and promote business security. There are positive steps to be noticed in the society as it is highly used in the biometric verification that is immensely needed by several organizations. AFRA is thereby used in this way to secure the system and adopt advance technology (Cardiff University, 2018). For several services such as phone login, computer, passport, mobile payment access, etc, the face recognition system is highly used for the smooth functioning of gateways.
For law enforcement agencies, AFRA is very essential and tends to ensure agency benefits on a large basis. This is due to the legitimate technology that ensures the AFR mix to be adopted in the business. AFR was initially trialed in South Wales that includes non-suspicious death case, recall prison, charges, and arrests, etc. The trials on foot passengers were the major success criteria to be noticed in controls of the number of cases. AFRA is used for better policymaking in terms of better policymaking. There are pros and cons of using AFRA with technology implementation to be put towards the approach adopted by governments. There are law enforcement agencies and police operations who use the AFRA services and learn the major curve of technology maturity. The challenges that are faced while using AFRA are reluctantly important to be understood while working towards solving the problem.
Problems
There are several issues in terms of adapting AFRA which are highly categorized in the group such as intrinsic and extrinsic groups. Intrinsic factors include the physical nature of the person. This ensures that the image is an independent observer. There are intrapersonal and interpersonal groups that are divided in the intrinsic factor which vary the facial appearance and consider facial paraphernalia and facial expression. Paraphernalia includes glasses, facial hair, and cosmetics while considering intrapersonal factors (Dormehl, 2014). On the other hand, interpersonal factors include the differences in appearance turn to be different for different individuals.
Extrinsic factors include the appearance of the face in which interaction of light may vary the facial image. The factors such as imaging parameters, scale, illumination and pose are major contradictions (Ohlyan & Sangwan, 2013). For example, focus, resolution, noise, and imaging are the common problems that are indicated in extrinsic factors largely. Thereby, factors such as automatically locating the face, illumination, pose, expressions, aging, low resolution, occlusion and identification of similar faces tend to create problems while using AFRA.
Individual privacy implications
Individual’s privacy is ensured while using AFRA in terms of renewing or making a new license. A biometric system tends to protect individuals privacy while working with advanced technology. It helps to establish the specific physiological characteristics of the user. The biometric system has an enrollment module and identification module that ensures accountable training to be provided in terms of identifying and scanning physiognomy in terms of digital representation (Galteria, Shavit & Hayajneh, 2018). This is a major template to be compared accordingly. The identification module tends to ensure privacy implications for the individual in terms of using digital representation and considering the recognition of capturing the image of a person. The technology is considered to be the growing technology which ensures the major focus on continuous growth in terms of computer physiognomy in which individual privacy is maintained. This is extensive research towards which the practical implications tend to perform and work towards the need of performing identification of face and tends to ensure stipulated use of advance technology that is highly required at several agencies such as passport agencies and police operations.
Individual privacy is maintained which is the core service that is provided by AFRA in terms of recognizing the face and considering the data storage activity. Face recognition...
