For any industry the customers act as the core source of revenue generation, in other words, the success of an organization or a business is extensively dependent upon their customer base and the relation that the organization have with their customers (Stouras, 2016).
Industry overview
As in the case of Food Distribution industry, the food service and product distributors are responsible for delivering a wide range of services to the restaurants, hotels and small outlets. These services range from the delivery of raw food products like meat, flour, seafood etc., to packaged and processed beverages, canned ingredients and packet snacks etc. (Scheidt & Chung, 2018) From frozen goods to non-perishable food ingredients, the list of the products is just massive, creating a number of opportunities for the business to prosper. But, the recent decade or so has experienced a massive hike in the competition in the industry, and instead of the revenue, the success is measured in terms of effectiveness of the organization to retain and manage a strong customer base, hence increasing the importance of service quality delivery (Akkerman, Farahani & Grunow, 2010).
Summary of the industry environment
· Increased opportunities for business has attracted significant competition.
