It applies to senior managers, including strategic business analysts and executive managers, who use cognitive and creative skills to review, critically analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge, to generate ideas, and provide solutions to complex problems. They use communication skills to demonstrate their understanding of theoretical concepts and to transfer knowledge and ideas to others. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. If Not Satisfactory (NS) result is given even for a task you will be deemed Not Yet Competent (NYC). Students who are unsuccessful at achieving competency at the first attempt will be offered coaching, information and additional time (other needs if required) before a second and possibly a third attempt is made. If the student is not able to satisfactorily complete the assessment after the third attempt the student will be deemed Not Competent and resulted as such. The student may re-enrol in the qualification at a later date to gain successful completion of the unit/s. Where appropriate the assessor may decide to re-assess the student to ensure a fair and equitable decision is gained. It is important that assessors do not teach at the assessment but allow students to competence for themselves. Feedback is to be given at the completion of the assessment using the feedback to student. If a student does not meet a standard, the assessor is to sit down with them and assist them in their understanding. Should you disagree with the assessment outcome, you can appeal the decision as stated in the Student Handbook. Your student record must indicate that you have all required skills and knowledge in completing the task. For each assessment, the assessor is to act as a supervisor and not interfere with the assessment. If the assessment activities will impact on your safety or that of others, the assessment must be stopped immediately. Assessment Task 1: For Assessment Task 1, students are required to read the case study “Why is Knowledge Management so difficult”, and answer the questions given below in relevance to the article. This assessment has to be completed during your session period. Please check with your Trainer and Assessor for due date of submission. Assessment Task 2: Assessment Task 2 is based on an Article “The African Development Bank – The knowledge Broker…the Transformation Bank”. In this Assessment Task 2, you are required to make a project report in no less than 2500 words explaining why African Development Bank aspires to be Africa’s premier knowledge institution and to use that knowledge to transform lives. You need to research, implement, monitor and modify knowledge management strategy in African Development Bank and analyse what could be their major setback and how could they overcome the drawbacks. Students need to assume themselves as one of the top management staff at African Development Bank and write a detailed report. There is no specific format for writing the report, however, students could follow the steps being recommended in the student instruction. Assessment Task 3: In continuation of Assessment Task 2, Task 3 is based on the case study “The African Development Bank – The knowledge Broker…the Transformation Bank”. There is no specific format for the presentation, however, the presentation should consists of the given specification in the assessment. Assessment Task 4: This is a written assessment that will test your knowledge. This assessment may be completed over the duration of the training day or in one sitting of about 120 minutes. As you learn, practice and review knowledge and skills, you will keep Assessment 4 in front of you and answer the questions as the information becomes clear to you. At the beginning of each review session you will be given a few minutes to familiarise yourself with the questions. You will be given extra time at the end of the day to complete this assessment or to clarify facts with the Trainer/Assessor. This is an open book test. Competency Decision Student must satisfactorily complete each assessment tasks to be Competent (C) in the unit.
