Unit Description
Students discuss locations within Australia and Australia's place in the world through a number of scales. Students reflect the location of objects on maps and within their local area and identify them. They compil
e, organize and view information about the places people have visited in Australia and investigate the variables affecting the access of people to places. They address people’s links to locations, both locally and internationally. To understand the specific link Aboriginal peoples have to the country, students respond to texts.
Key Questions to be Asked
· What are some of the major places in NSW?
· What is the status of connectivity to these places?
· Where does the places can be located on map?
· What are some of the influential factors that are related to the connectivity of these people?
Learning Outcomes
A student is asked to interpret the meaning of places and their geographical connections with people. It carries out the knowledge of the geography and uses GE1-3 geographical methods for investigation. The process includes collection and processing of the data as well as the use of the images and then, the student interprets the MA1-17SP results. The routine activities like situations of the every day and on MA1-16MG maps, he portrays and explains the locations of things. For a number of purposes, he prepares, composes and reviews a small selection of easy texts for established readers and viewers on common subjects. When responding to and writing texts, the student thinks imaginatively and creatively about familiar subjects, concepts and texts. Eventually, he responds to and composes a collection of texts on the aspects of the text that he already known to him about the specific place selected as well as about the rest of the world.
Conceptual Understanding of Geography
The Plan will include the following geographical concepts to be explained in the class:
Place: the importance of places in the lives of people and how they are seen geographically.
Space: the process of spatial distribution as well as geographical inclusion and the ways in which people organize and control the spaces in Interconnection: no geographical study object can be viewed in isolation.
Scale: The manner in which geographical phenomena and issues can be investigated at various spatial levels.
