Introduction
With the evolution of the societies, the changes in lifestyle has encouraged mental healthcare one of the major components that
the Australian healthcare sector need to focus on. In fact, the numbers of youth having mental health issues are growing and some of the cases result in the homelessness which worsens the condition of the mental health of the young people (Settipani et al, 2017). In Australian context, the service sector for the mental wellbeing of the youth is also growing, however, there are some basic management challenges which are deemed necessary with a view to provide holistic care to the targeted population. This include but is not limited to the supplication of the needs related to counseling, structuring the user friendly treatment as well as the implication of the government policies to make sure that the needs and expectations of the mentally challenged youth is recognized and managed.
A Brief Overview of the Service Sector
In the context of reviewing the existing structure and accessibility of the youth support centers for mental healthcare, it is important to note here that the considerable shortage is recorded in this service delivery in the past two decades (Dowell et al, 2021). One in a five youth in Australia suffers on account of having some mental health issue which needs formal addressing and support. However, there are only some public and privately funded support centers in every state whose accessibility is questioned. A further investigation projects how the availability of the mental health support to youth is having problems at management level as well as there are some potential barriers at social and economic level that affect the overall functioning of this service sector (Swann et al, 2018).
There are public and private service sectors out which, public service sector is governed by the rules of the state government. The provisions of care are designed by the existing conceptual frameworks of the national and state government. The options that public service sector can offer is the support given in the form of counseling, however, this is insufficient due to the lack of availability of the all kind of facilities at one place. The mentally challenged and at the same time, homeless youth find it difficult to avail the services of the public sector based support centers because it is hard and complicated to trace their location and reach out to them on personal grounds (Dowell et al, 2021).
When it comes to examine the intensity of the private sector in covering the needs of the youth that is mentally challenged and homeless, the nonprofit organizations cover the 30% of the overall structure of the youth support program. They operate in the given service criteria but their issue is that they do not have accessibility that is enhanced and guided by the advanced techniques and service provisions of the public service sector. Thus, there is a gap in the collaborative efforts of the two service sectors in the context of growing anticipations of the youth suffering from any kind of mental issue and having homelessness as one of the potential barrier to access to the holistic care (Settipani et al, 2017).
Two Management Challenges
The alternatives to management of the service sector in this context, there are two major challenges which the youth support centers in both, public and private sector has to go through. At first, there is a variety of risks taken by the youth that consequently results in the psychological issues and, therefore; it is complicated to find out ways to deal with the problems related to these concerns (Dowell et al, 2019). Young population in Australia suffers from the various types of mental healthcare problems and several of them emerge due to the substance abuse, alcohol and smoking or disturbed state of relationship within or outside the families. There are societal values which give severe impacts over their minds and it makes them mentally ill and weak enough with regard to develop some kind of mental issue.
When it comes to manage the...
