All rights reserved. 3 Background - Rationale To be a good corporate citizen and to cultivate an ethical culture, businesses commit to practices and standards designed to promote environmentally and socially responsible operations. To show this commitment companies develop their own sustainability policy. This assessment task will give you the opportunity to create a business sustainability policy that summarise a company organisational behaviour and strategies to solve some common social and environmental problems. Task Create a sustainability policy for a real or hypothetical company. The company can be from any industry, and a company background is required. The policy needs to reflect the organisation’s commitment to sustainability and global corporate citizenship. Present the main stakeholders and sustainability frameworks according to the course theories. Discuss how the company CSR policies can support its community by adopting some socially responsible and/or environmentally friendly practices that could solve some of the community social and environmental problems. Bub's Cakes & Treats is a cake shop that sells customer cakes; wedding cake and small variety of bite sized threats. The aim of the business is to offer products like cake and other bakery items to customers. It is based for both online and offline mode. The sustainability of the business ensures that it holds all principles for upholding the high professional standards, trusts and fosters the culture of collaboration and partnership. It ensures long term consequences for making decisions and it can help in creating a more sustainable future. Sustainability is the proactive and conscious use of processes that can help in developing a strategy for driving long-term profitability and corporate growth by mandating the inclusion of social and environmental issues in the model of the business.
1.1     Key stakeholders
Stakeholder management is important and it is the lifeline that ensures effectiveness of the project relationships. It includes establishment of sound relationships and it can help in understanding the work that contributes to the success of the business. Primary stakeholders contributed to the company in various ways and it is involved in daily operations of the company and it takes a major part of the business. Suppliers, Customers and Employees are primary stakeholders of the business. Suppliers provide essential supplies to the business and it can also invest in the business (Martinez Hernandez, Sánchez‐Medina and Díaz‐Pichardo, 2021). Suppliers received financial success from the business. Customers are responsible for purchasing products and help the company in generating profit and ensure that the business continues to earn as it updates products. Employees are the internal stakeholders and it invests effort and time for supporting the business and it can help in achieving the goal. Secondary stakeholders can be Government and it is responsible for maintaining regulation that the business should follow for ensuring employees and good compliance with safety standards.
1.2    Responsibility or duty to act
Sustainability is important for the business because it ensures recognition of importance to society and people along with improvement of local communities. It has had an impact on the business of Bub's Cakes & Treats by helping the organization by cutting down the cost by reducing waste and energy consumptions (Mio, Panfilo and Blundo, 2020). In the process of sustainability, the engagement of stakeholders is important for providing the opportunity for further aligning the practice with societal expectations and needs that can help to drive long-term sustainability. The engagement of stakeholders is required for resolving environmental and social issues that can help in improving accountability and decision-making. Stakeholders of Bub's Cakes & Treats will have to develop a stakeholder engagement plan for clarifying the allocated task along with the time frame. It includes interest of stakeholder and potential impact of the interest on the project that can help in outlining the stakeholder participation.
1.3    Legislation mandating compliance
As Bub's Cakes & Treats is a food business, it is important to comply with the Food Act 1984, which ensures safety of food products.
