The purpose of Assessment 2 and Assessment 3 is
to evaluate your ability to develop a



comprehensive implementation proposal for an information system that uses a systems



approach.


The proposal should be targeted at a potential ‘sponsor’ organisation (your workplace) that will


need to be convinced of the appropriateness and effectiveness of the proposed new system.

Part A of the proposal (Assessment 2) focuses on understanding your organisation (or the


organisation you have chosen) and exploring the opportunity for IS/IT improvement (e.g.,


selecting an information system to support organisational strategic objectives) while Part B of


the proposal (Assessment 3) focuses on designing and implementing the chosen system.


Choose an information system (e.g. ERP systems, CRM systems, SCM Systems, Management


Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Executive Information Systems, Enterprise


Portals, Data Warehouse & Data Mining Applications, Enterprise Collaboration Systems,


Knowledge Management Systems, among others) that you have studied in this unit.


Alternatively, you may wish to combine features of several systems.


For the purposes of both Part A and Part B of the proposal, the IS/IT improvement should not


focus on Apps, mobile devices, social media or similar aspects.


Your assignment should describe the steps of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)


discussed in Topic 3 of the subject. The proposed system must address an identifiable problem/


opportunity that exists in the sponsor organisation (your workplace) and relate to particular


aspects of the organisation’s overall strategic directions. It is important that you select the


features of your system carefully and justify your selection. Do not just use (be critical of the


use of) the standard features of a commercially available software package. For the purposes of


this assignment, try to keep the system that you are proposing to a manageable size.


Your proposed system could help the ‘sponsor’ organisation by:


• improving an existing manual information system


• introducing a new information system


• creating a new business opportunity


• improving organisational productivity.


The sponsor is generally a senior person within the organisation who has the authority to


approve such projects.

Introduction
An IS can be also defined as the coordinated set of component networks that works together to distribute, generate, and/or process information. A significant feature of computer-based data system information is accuracy, which may not be applicable to other types. In any given organization, information systems can be classify based on utilize of data. Therefore, the information system in the business can be divided into an operation support system moreover a management support systems. Every day, no matter how ignorant, everyone is using IT. It has grown-up rapidly or covers a lot of areas of our everyday lives, for example movies, Internet, and the mobile phones. IT can be generally defined as integration of the computers as well as telecommunications equipments for storing, storing data, processing, and retrieving. According to definition of the American IT Association, IT is defined as "computer-based IS research, design, application, development, implementation, support and management. IT has greatly improved financial performance; it also provides solutions to social issues. The benefit and make the IS affordable or user-friendly (Arab, Sahebi and Alavi, 2017). IT has brought about tremendous changes in our everyday lives, including education, family life, workplace, communication and even government functions.
Opportunity for IS/IT improvement selecting an information system
Company Background
ALDI is a popular and leading chain of international discount supermarkets. It has nearly 10,000 in the 18 countries. The organization’s turnover is estimated to exceed 50 billion euros. ALSI is generally located in Germany. The retail association was founded in 1946 by brothers Karl Albrecht and Theo Albrecht, when they took over the store of their mother in Essen, which opened in 1913. It is the world's biggest private companies.
The term "knowledge management" refers to the process of capturing, developing, sharing, and effectively using organizational knowledge. It also refers to a multidisciplinary approach to achieving the goals of a specific organization through the best use of information the work of managing knowledge is usually focused on several organizational goals (Chong and Chong, 2009). Therefore, the main purpose of this report is to implement a method for achieving the goals of the ALDI organization in the terms of information management systems.    
Part B
The development life cycle is useful for system development because they provide methods and models. Even though there are the different techniques or models for developing systems with the different functions, there is a no such method or complete model or comprehensive for information management system (Dehghani and Ramsin, 2015). The cause might be the diversity and complexity of associated topics in information management, which is the interdisciplinary field.

Arab, Sahebi and Alavi, (2017) in their study have developed a framework for managerial readiness for information lifecycle management. They examine how to create, capture, utilize, and eliminate knowledge within an organization. They also recognized fourteen steps to prepare for information lifecycle management. These steps include: make trust throughout leadership; recognize roles; establishing knowledge ownership strategies; recognize safety policies to identify leaks and ensure proper use of knowledge; establishing common procedures and processes; change processes and current infrastructure; identify incentive policies; performance assessments in knowledge management; develop methods to measure knowledge sharing; identify knowledge communities; Accounting methods; create “stretch target process”; project review procedure to enhance knowledge; build dynamic information databases (Hyunju Suh, 2008).
The first is sequential, dealing with novice users, while the second is interactive, dealing with knowledgeable people who know everything about problems and solutions. Another difference is the nature of the system: although the universal lifecycle is process driven, KMSLC is result oriented. The test phase with the general life cycle is usually different immediately after building the system. In KMSLC, the test is performed by verification and confirmation at the beginning of the life cycle (Nguyen and Kohda, 2017). Therefore, our proposed life cycle involves the life cycle of an information management system, unlike the universal lifecycle system. Additionally, the life cycle solves the information process and puts it into a life cycle that we have not yet completed before we know it. Given the fact that the software development can be viewed as a work of knowledge (in general), it is clear that the differences may be based on other attributes of the knowledge work. The requirements of the knowledge management system life cycle can be divided into the following five main categories:
