1. Introduction
1.1 Background
The family system in Australia has transitioned since the culmination of the Second World War. The world war was the reason why there were fewer marriages and families in Australia before 1980. However, there are several factors that have made an impact on the Australian family system. Factors like women in families working, the advent of birth control pills and policies regarding the family system and divorce. The welfare of society depends on family well-being and its structure. Therefore, the transition influences the way societies function, react and the rise or fall in the families. The traditional family structure has evolved ad even the government policies aim to make an improvement in the quality of the family relationships. The research aims to identify the causes for transition and the degree to which family systems have been affected due to the change, the way the society has been influenced by the change and the cultural changes associated with it.
1.2 Rationale
The rationale of the research is based on vast differences and the tremendous changes in the family system in Australia and its conducted to understand the magnitude of the factors that affect the society because of the evolution of the family system.
2. Discussion
According to (Committee, 2015), the traditional family system which involved the parents and the children started changing after the 1980s. The number of divorces increased, the workforce introduced women and the fertility rate had gone down. To notice the significant differences, the information provided by (Statistics, 2015), brings light to the numbers which show that the percentage of children living in 1980s were lower than in the 1990s.
