Assessment 2: Report: Applying the psychological principles of client engagement
Question: How can we as the professional adviser better develop client engagement in a working alliance (either a financial planning or accounting relationship)?
This question must be addressed through a focussed analysis of the application of ONE of the three listed theoretical and applied social psychological principles with the goal of the development of a better client engagement.
Choose ONE of these three options A, B or C:
A. Conformity through the use of informational influence;
B. The component attitude model (thinking, feeling, acting); or
C. The use of heuristics (representative, availability, anchoring & adjustment).
Important Note: The theoretical psychological principles should include extensive reference to the required textbook, Vaughan (2010), plus any supporting research undertaken and the provided readings, and analysing that through its application to the development of an improved working alliance. Students should avoid the mistake of not providing a sufficient foundation of social psychological theory – the analysis through application of these theoretical models is the core aspect of the assessment.
The assessment should be a business report format:
• Executive Summary
• Introduction
• Body (two or more specific headings focussed on the response)
• Conclusion
Written submissions should be 1500 words in length (+/- 10%), professionally presented, with supporting visuals including diagrams, sketches, photos and other relevant illustrations. Cover page, contents list, in-text referencing, reference lists, diagrams and appendices are not included in the word count. All submissions must comply with the requirements listed in the Course Handbook.
