Introduction
In the advancing society, projects are one of the essential and abundant aspects within industries. It has been observed that successful projects play an important role in building a key foundation for long-term growth. In the study, the analysis of the project of the monumental structure of Burj Khalifa will be analysed. The study will include understanding the stakeholders for the project management of Burj Khalifa and the critically analyse the completion process of the project. The Burj Khalifa was a multi-use building in Dubai that included a hotel, residential area, parking facilities and leisure. The tower had an area of 460,000 square metres. The design of the tower replicated the geometries of dessert flower, which also known to be the embodiment of Islamic culture. The tower consists of a central core surrounded by three wings.
Each of the wings represents the bays that are located at every seventh floor of the building. The concept of the building was created by Skidmore, Merrill and Owings. The structure was designed such that it can be reinforced with a high-performance concrete, which was built for the foundation to the 156 level. Various wings of engineering and technology were utilised so that the tower can reduce the wind excitation. As expressed by Kijewski-Correa and Bartolini (2017), the architecture was done and constructed with the integration of the requirements and principals for the architectural designs so that a dynamic response can be built against the wind frictions. Before the initiation of the construction of the building, an extensive study of type concrete and the quality control analysis was verified in order to ensure that the plan of the construction was full-proof and complete agreed upon by the team working on the project.
Project Stakeholders’ Analysis
The stakeholders for the construction of the Burj Khalifa can be categorised into two main stakeholders’ type. The primary and secondary. According to Karimi (2019), the primary stakeholder constituted the consultants, clients and the PM. These individuals were directly connected to the construction process. The secondary stakeholders comprised of employees, sub-contractors, third party, suppliers and investors. It also included the communities, governmental authorities, banks and trade associations. As expressed by Mullner (2017), the project team who was the first essential key stakeholders of the project were the Emaar properties who had assembles members of the project who had years of experience and expertise in the construction of high-rise towers. In this case, the designer also played a very important role in the assembling of the construction. Another team of the project were the Turner team who played an important function in the analysis of the obstacles, risks and bottles necks of the project. One such risks and obstacles that were calculated and evaluated was when the ground floor was constructed together with the construction of the upper floor. Further, there were stakeholders including the suppliers, consultants, safety and fire hazards personnel, lighting arrangement personnel and constructors, who were involved in the...
