As health practitioners, reflexivity is crucial to effective, ethical and engaged professional practice.
Using the content from these lectures, write a blog
(maximum 1 page)
addressing the following:
1. Describe the concept/practice of reflexivity and why it is important in health promotion
2. Using the recommended reading for this blog,
in your own words, explain the difference between formative and critical reflexivity. By using your own language to describe the difference between formative and critical reflexivity, you will be able to develop a deeper understanding of these terms and apply them to your own contexts.
3.
Choose an area
within health promotion that interests you and apply these two levels of reflexivity to this area. In particular, describe an
example
of both formative and critical reflexivity based on this area within health promotion. Ideally this could be your own lived experience in the past or even thinking about your practice in the future. Then,
explain
why both forms of reflexivity are important in this particular area of health promotion.
Supporting your writing for blog assessment:
- The
purpose of writing a reflective blog is to develop insight
into your own context as a student and health promotion professional. Insight comes from applying what you understand in the academic literature to your particular context or practice.
· Your response should be considered, and written in a tone appropriate for an academic audience.
- Remember to write in full sentences, use good paragraph construction and formatting as you would for any academic audience. When you paraphrase (i.e. write in your own words) the literature, please remember to cite the ideas that are not your own.
