As a child and youth care practitioner, when Shandel came clean to me about having Chlamydia and not using condom the first way I though of dealing with them and the situation they are dealing with by not rushing things. Parents, although they do not mean to, end up rushing their kids to talk by constantly reminding that they are always here if their kids want to talk. I think, letting the kids know that you are here for them by telling them once or twice with a considerable amount of time interval in between is enough. They will open up when they are ready (Han, 2018). Moreover, the best way to be helpful as a child and youth care practitioner is to take your lead from that child or youth. If they are upset, validate that. If Shandel does not feel guilty about it then I will not make them feel guilty by making a big deal out of it.
