For example, you could write about whether or not the death penalty should be banned in the United States. You could write about whether or not the U.S should adopt a single-payer Medicare-for-All health care policy. You will be graded on how well your present your argument.Your thesis statement should clearly state your central claim, the main point of your argument.Topic:
Your essay must address an ethical issue. If you have trouble finding a topic, consult page 566 in the Bedford Reader.Citing Sources:Be sure to provide parenthetical citations (footnotes) within the text plus a “Works Cited” page if your essay includes information from sources other than yourself. Follow MLA style documentation of sources as presented in theRules for Writersmanual. The manual provides a helpful sample research paper on pages 468-476. I strongly believe that concept of retribution is ethically flawed as well as even worse while it is implemented at the ground level. Essentially, taking a life to compensate the life which is lost is basically revenge and not justice. We live in 21st century and desire a criminal judiciary system which is effective, sensible as well as develops a safe society with lesser number of crime. As per the research conducted, it is evident that death penalty has no major influence on the public safety. As per the detail statistics from Death Penalty Information Center exemplifies that since past four decades there has been approximately 1184 in South relative to the Northeast where there is jump in the rates of homicides. We can't teach our kids killing is wrong if we are using the same mechanisms to attain justice. Furthermore, the 8th amendment to the constitutions forbids the infliction of unusual as well as cruel punishment. If the death penalty is a brutal and termed as unusual punishment then definitely it’s unconstitutional to still implement it.
