Are there differences between what we can learn from casts and actual fossils?
Paleoanthropologists are skeptical that H. erectus had anything more than a simple
proto-language because it is not cranial features and capacity alone that enable
“articulate speech.” What other bodily characteristics do you think would need to
be in place for language to develop?
