    Some may claim that not all offenders are the same because of the great range of offences that can be punished by imprisonment, and it would thus be more fitting to provide community service to such offenders instead (Zeiger, 2018). I accept that incarceration would not be the right option in some situations and community service will possibly have more advantages. One reason provided for prisons is to keep society secure by separating the outside world from offenders. But the first thing to consider is whether someone who has violated the law is a threat to other individuals. There is an argument for keeping the victim apart from society in the case of violent crime. However, for instance, theft or possession of drugs does not require violence against other persons, so the perpetrator does not pose a direct risk to others in the community. It is costly for the taxpayer to keep these types of offenders in goal and does not seem to be an efficient deterrent since they frequently commit the same crime again when they get out of goal (Zeiger, 2018).
    Keeping in mind the above, it is inferred that the crime against various factors is associated to the various punishments which is by law, a permissible act.
