SEM 200: Assignment Informational Interview Reflective Paper Students are required to research an organization of their interest and schedule a date/time in which the student will conduct an informational interview with a professional within that organization. Resources and suggestions are available through the Office of Experiential Programs and Career Services. Students are also encouraged to ask their faculty advisor for resources and suggestions. Students must choose an organization within their field of study or an organization that will support their career goals. Students should plan to complete a 30 minute informational interview. Students are not permitted to interview immediate family members or faculty/staff of Harrisburg University. Students must find an external professional to interview. The purpose of this assignment is to provide the student with insight into a particular organization/career, serve as a networking opportunity for the student and provide the student with the opportunity to enhance their Career and Professional Development. In addition to conducting the interview, the student is required to submit a four-page reflective paper describing their interview, reaction to the interview and how the interview will impact their future career goals. Informational interviews help a job seeker to gather information in the field, find employment and expand their network. Sample Questions to Ask During your Informational Interview I.
