Ans1 As a norm, traditions and spirituals of African-American are passed from individual to individual,
which helps in tracking down the exact birth identity of a person while few have been forgotten. This tradition generate a sense of belonging, feeling of community and connecting the people in South to North. As per W.EB. Dubois' highlights one of the major refutation in African-American history. Despite black musicians were sad due to racism however, white listeners ardently absorb their music. During the time of slavery in Africa, owner of such slave groups provided
Large span of justifications for the practice that also included the idea that people were happy to be slaves. Slave owners indicated the songs were sung as a testimony of this justification. However, according to Dubois' explains the reality of these spiritual songs that expressed layers of pain and despair along with the strength of slaves. The role of sorrow song actually articulates the message of slaves to the entire world. Essentially, the songs are the form of music for the unhappy people as they manifest the suffering of slaves and desire to be free. Sorrow songs emanate the music of crestfallen people who were forced to be slaved forever and even pass down from generations to generations. Song provided sense of aspiration, a reliance that justice will come someday.
