(a). Diageo is a British Multinational beverage a
lcohol company whose headquarters is situated in London. The company conducts its business in more than 180 countries and has manufacturing facility in over 140 countries. The company was formed in the year 1997. The company is one of the global leaders in beverage drinks with over 200 brands. The company has over 28000 employees which are spread all over the world. One of the major strategies of the company is to create a sustainable and quality growth which enables the company to invest in business, grow margins and deliver high shareholder returns. The major sustainability initiatives taken by the company are as under:
(i). The company has reduced its Green Gas emission by 50%. The company has taken the initiative to reduce its green gas emission by 50% by undertaking such processes which lead to reduced green gas emission. Even though the company had to face some losses to change their production process but they are committed to reduce their footprints on the environment. The company made its commitment that the company will work towards reducing the Green Gas emission further in the coming years so that the company can achieve their objective of creating a sustainable and quality growth which enables the company to invest in business, grow margins and deliver high shareholder returns.
(ii). 99.50% of the packaging used by the company is recyclable. The company has taken the initiative to use packaging with can be easily recycled and reused such that the company can reuse the packaging and wastage is not dumped into the sea. Recycling also helps to ensure that the natural resources used to produce the packaging material are not over utilized which can lead to scarcity of natural resources. Recycling also helps to reduce Green Gas and overall pollution. The company made its commitment that the company will work towards increasing the use of recyclable packaging further in the coming years so that the company can achieve their objective of creating a sustainable and quality growth which enables the company to invest in business, grow margins and deliver high shareholder returns.
(iii). Over 39% of the leadership position are held by women in the company. The company has taken the initiative to provide leadership positions to women in the company and making sure that there is no gender discrimination regarding the salary in the company. The company also ensures women in the company get equal opportunity to represent. The company made its commitment that the company will work towards increasing the ownership of leadership positions by the women in the company further in the coming years so that the company can achieve their objective of creating a sustainable and quality growth which enables the company to invest in business, grow margins and deliver high shareholder returns.
(iv). Over 1 million people educated about the dangers of the underage drinking. The company has taken the initiative to promote and educate the society about the dangers of the Underage drinking. The company has made several advertisements to educate the society about the harmful effects of underage drinking. The company has taken this initiative seriously and has till now reached over 1 million people. The company made its commitment that the company will work towards increasing their effort further in the coming years so that the company can achieve their objective of creating a sustainable and quality growth which enables the company to invest in business, grow margins...
