Introduction:
Tobacco Canada dominates the Canadian tobacco industry, led by JTI-MacDonald (13 percent), Rothmans (49%), and Benson and Hedges (37%). All three businesses made a net profit of $23.4 billion in 2015. Per year, the cigarette industry's goods kill over 7 million people worldwide. In this report we focused on analysis of three issues. They are 1.Economic issue, 2. Social issue, and 3. Environmental issue
1. Economic issue:
In 2016, the world's six largest tobacco companies earned more than USD 346 billion, which is equal to 23% of Canada's Gross National Income. Because of its enormous riches and foreign business reach, the industry is a powerful power that does not fear the actions of smaller nation states. Greater economies and nations have the potential to help this challenge to smaller partners.
Canada produced 26092 metric tons of tobacco during 2014. Tobacco farming, on the other hand, accounts for a tiny portion of Canadian agriculture, accounting for just 0.01 percent of agricultural land. In 2016, 15.39 billion cigarettes were produced in Canada and the imports of cigarette exceeded cigarette exports in Canada, harming the country's trade balance.
2. Social issue:
Health issue for tobacco smokers:
All who smokes is at higher risk for: cardiovascular disease, some tumors, lung and breathing complications, other medical conditions, premature death. Health risk for female smokers are cervical cancer, issues during periods (menstrual problems), pregnancy problems (fertility problems), early delivery, and infant weight loss. Male smokers are exposed to Erection complications (impotence and dysfunction) Erection problems. The same kinds of health conditions are faced by cigar and pipe smokers.
Smokeless tobacco contains a significant amount of the same toxic and addictive compounds as cigarettes, pipes and cigars as chewing tobacco and snuff. Tobacco without smoke is a significant cause of mouth and neck cancer. It can also lead to significant dental conditions, such as gums, dental damage, and discolored teeth and gums. Pregnant women who have been being vulnerable to second hand smoke during pregnancy are at greater risk of health and baby health problems. The risk of a low birth weight baby is elevated as well. Children exposed or whose mothers smoked during pregnancy is more vulnerable to the sudden death syndrome in children (SIDS).
