Business Administration 4100Y Statements of Learning Objective and Rationale This course is based in story and asks you to use your previous life and work experience and previous learned theories to make sense of them. Indigenous learning theory postulates that to translate this information into knowledge and eventually into wise behaviour an individual needs to reflect upon the material and make sense of it in their own life, to take it inside of themselves so to speak. By doing so, the information then becomes part of the lived knowledge of the individual and is transformed from merely received information. Making sense of the information is an important aspect of the process and can be done in variety of ways: reflection, discussion, dialogue, ceremony, reading and analysis of ideas and experiences to name a few. Management data comes from a wide variety of sources and you are expected to figure out the meaning of this data yourself. The focus for the learning statements is on the understandings that you achieve not on the material that you have encountered and read. The statements of learning are a contemporary interpretation of an aspect of a traditional indigenous approach to learning. At the end of each six week period, we as you to reflect upon what you read, the films that you have seen, the discussions you have had and illuminate what you have learned from all of this information and experience. The reflective requirement prepare a short report of about 750 words that describes what you have learned and how it is affecting your own ideas and understandings. statement should contain reference to at least four of the course activities: lectures, readings and films. The paper requirements should be in 12 point Times Roman Font, double spaced with 1 inch margins all around and page numbers in the bottom centre.
