Anatomy and Physiology: Case Study on Congestive Heart Failure
Cardiodynamics Case Study: CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE OBJECTIVES: · Demonstrate knowledge of the heart and cardiovascular system including anatomy and physiology of the heart. DIRECTIONS: For this case study, you will write your own case study based on the information you learn from researching the topic and the material learned in this week’s module on the cardiovascular system. Your case study that you write should be a story of a patient that fits the criteria for someone with this disease/disorder (i.e. age, gender, ethnicity, etc). The story about the patient must include the following: · Patient’s symptoms: The patient is coming to see you the physician for some reason. Use these symptoms to help you arrive at which tests to order. · test results: Test results can be from an actual case study (please make sure to cite your references) or created by you. If you create your own test results, make sure you can arrive at a diagnosis based on the information you provide in the test results. You test results should focus on the heart or cardiodynamics (i.e. vital signs – pulse, blood pressure; ECG data; heart sounds; etc). · treatment: What treatments would you try? Why? It’s up to you what ultimately happens to the patient, but no miracle cures. · pathology-1 picture of the histology or anatomy affected · etiology- how did this disease first present itself? Was there additional follow-up conditions? · Diagnosis- use the symptoms, etiology, and test results to have a consistent diagnosis. Your diagnosis should be the condition you are assigned. · Cardiac output, stroke volume, and heart rate: You need to determine what the condition is causing in terms of cardiodynamics for cardiac output, stroke volume, and heart rate. · Questions: At the end of the case study propose two novel questions about areas of research that are needed or something new this case study is bringing up about the condition. You do not need to answer the questions. · Bibliography: Cite all sources in whatever format for the bibliography you would like.
