Your Task
For our first discussion, your task is to think about the examples shown on the previous page. We had one written example of a personal narrative, and one spoken version. Select ONE of these narratives and answer the questions that were asked on the last page. I'll copy them here for your convenience:
- Think about the chronologyof this story (this is the time related order of events). Does this story start at the beginning? Explain the how this is organized in terms ofwhenthe events happen.
- What setting details could we find from the first 1/3 of the story? How are these described by author?
- What is the clearest description here? What I mean is, which description allows you to imagine the setting of the story best? Why do you say this?
- What is the problem/interesting twist? How does the author introduce this (is it directly stating it, or are we inferring this)?
- In your opinion, what is the most effective description here? Why do you say this?
- How does the problem resolve?
- What does the author take away from this experience?
- How does the author help us to share in the experience?
Answer these questions in a discussion board post of approximately150-250words. This post should be organized so that it can be easily understood, but the primary focus is on the quality of what you say. Grammar and spelling will not be a factor unless there are significant issues that make it hard to understand your points. Instead, concentrate on presenting meaningful and insightful content that will help the class discussion and understanding. This initial post is dueWednesday, June 16 at 11:59 pm.
In addition to this initial post, your task expects a reply. For the reply, try to read a classmate's post who chose the other example. Then, in a reply of50-100 words, try to share your thoughts on the post. Provide feedback, discussion, or some other insight that you can add to help improve the conversation with your classmate. You are expected to write TWO replies. These replies are due onThursday, June 17 10 at 11:59 pm.
