Relations between the United States and Mexico should not be considered as integral to border areas. A multi-border approach is important for understanding U.S.-Mexico border and border relations in the region, as well as related economic, social and political dynamics. At 1,954 miles in length, the U.S.-Mexico border is spread over beaches, deserts, and tropical climatic zones of varying heights. The long U.S.-Mexico border is a region of multiple conflicts. Huge demographic, social, political, and cultural differences can be found across the borders of about 2.5 miles. There are many questions to address in this diverse and uneven territory (Dick, 2019).
