An explanatory variable is skewed whereas the response is bell-shaped. Why is it not possible for this variable to explain a substantial portion of the variation in the response in a linear regression?
An explanatory variable in a simple regression is bimodal. If the simple regression has a large , then what sort of distribution would you expect for the response?
