An organism called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) has been found to be a common cause of gastritis in children and adults. It is transmitted through contamination with gastrointestinal substances such as vomit or feces. Symptoms of HP infection include epi/gastr/ic pain, nausea, vomiting, and dys/pepsia. This bacterial infection is treated with antibiotics and H2 antagonists (gastric secretion inhibitors).
