An elderly client is prescribed sulfisoxazole (Gantrisin). Knowing that one of the major adverse effects of this drug is crystalluria, the nurse should instruct the client to:
1. Limit intake of foods high in calcium such as milk, cheese, and yogurt.
2. Avoid changing positions (lying down, sitting, or standing) rapidly.
3. Increase fluid intake to 2 to 3 L per day.
4. Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages while taking this medication.
