Efficient classroom management is a key component of teaching. These are the
steps you are taking to make sure that your students are careful, do not distract each other and are always on duty. This is separate from the one aspect of classroom management that is discipline. Where the curriculum defines the implications of not following the rules, the management of the classroom explains a wider collection of activities which are mostly designed to avoid problems instead of reacting to them.
Classroom Setup
The structure of a classroom is an instance of non-disciplinary classroom management. Following a couple of weeks of education, it becomes quite clear who students should not sit close together, as some friends (and enemies) distract each other and the kids around them for the whole lesson. Discipline would punish these children every time they interrupt the class; the management of the classroom takes them elsewhere to prevent disruption.
